Going downhill faster than my ex's waistline

Let me tell you, years ago you would come in here and see the finest array of muscle hunks and bears with ZERO attitude and always a friendly smile. Now it is all stand-and-model Discover-card hoes with fruit drinks and their little clique games. The upstairs is barely even a crowd anymore. This is sadly one of the bars that couldn't meet the challenge of the internet era and I'm afraid it's going downhill fast. They need a complete makeover and a serious remodeling. Then get some real men again.

Hometown bar, in the middle of a crowded city

I grew up in New York City, and got home sick when I moved to the Logan Circle area of DC. Then I braved the Green Lantern on a slow Wednesday night and can i say, "Cool, there is a bar in DC where people are friendly!" After being talked back in by one of my favorite bartenders there, who's name I can't remember, but people called him Puppy, I went back for their "Shirtless Thursday" special. Even more fun. Slow night or packed to the walls, this is by far my favorite watering hole in the city.

HotRealMen

Thursday nights are my fav - great to hang with shirtless / more than half naked men. Wear very low rise jeans and lose the shirt. Almost always a guaranteed hook up with a buddy. Saturday underwear is hot - be sureto wear some really sleazy u-trou. Great place to be an exhibitionist and be rewarded with free drinks.

Disappointed

From most of the other reviews, I apparently visited the Green Lantern on a succession of off nights. Crowd was definitely insular and unfriendly - and I did go on a Thursday Night . No Bears in sight, just a lot of muscle queens and attitude. I try not to judge a bar on one or even two visits so I will stop in when next in DC and hope to be proved wrong in my original assessment.
