Annie's Paramount Steak House

(294 Ratings)
Iconic gay restaurant
The cavernous interior of Annie's, the seriously queer steakhouse, has been updated but the comfort food menu of huge fries and steaks and oversized salads remain unchanged. Upstairs is now a swanky lounge. Make sure to take in a D.C. tradition here: get a table in the front room with the expansive view of the gay crowd that cruises up and down 17th Street.

there's something about annie

don't expect great food at annie's. a great steak, friends, and salad with lots of rich dressing is the standard faire. but what you will get is a wonderful, extremely gay experience. the place is packed with gays and lesbians of all sorts, especially on weekend nights. great place to head after a stroll through dupont circle and checking out the boys that line the bars of 17th street. the breakfast french toast is highly caloric but really good, and everyone's always seems to be having a great time at annie's.

a great steak

First time to Annie's; not disappointed; great service, food was excellent, although the salad could be improved (even though the dressing was great) A superb steak, which is what I was wanting that night, and a very good gin and tonic. All in all, I'm going back as I like the atmosphere, the service, and the food...not to mention some lovely "beautiful people" customers; not snobby, but just a really nice crowd.

Ok food, robotic service, not worth the money

Went to this place after reading these reviews and was not impressed. Food was ok, but not worth the price. Service was robotic, appropriately friendly, but seemed as if our server was on autopilot. The entire concept needs a major update.

"Old world"—Great energy

Best original salad dressing, wonderful people, helpful staff, great location--worth the visit--but not more than a 20 min wait.

Great remodeling, ok food....

Went here on a Sunday for brunch. It wasnt too crowded, which was nice and the decor was really nice. The menu was pretty limited and plain. The bloody mary was ok, but strong. I liked the atmosphere but service was mediocre and so was the food.
