An LGBTQI dance party! Beginner lesson in bachata followed by open dance with a loose variety of music appropriate for bachata, blues, zouk, and fusion dancing. Everyone will learn both roles! In the interest of time management (!) and not overwhelming you, we will be teaching a lesson in only one dance style this time. "Bachata is a style of dance that originated in the Dominican Republic. It is danced widely all over the world but not identically. Blues dancing is related to swing dancing in its origins and its modern revival. It is slower than swing, and unlike swing, it may be danced in a close embrace position, making it potentially more intimate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyeK5f-8zeA What is fusion? Fusion dancing refers to any blend of partner dance styles. A blues-bachata fusion would blend these two styles together. At this event you can dance both styles independently of each other, and/or blend them together! Always get consent (verbally or nonverbally) before beginning a partnered dance. While you are strongly encouraged to partner dance if you want to, it is always acceptable to politely decline a dance. In fact, if you don't feel like partner dancing at all, you are still welcome to come hang out, pour yourself a drink, solo dance, and/or watch. -This is an all-gender-inclusive event.
