The It's-Not-a-Holiday Party has been postponed until January.
======
In light of the recent killing of yet another important member of our community, Alonzo Smith, the Not-a-Holiday-Party will be rescheduled.
We ask instead that everyone who had planned on being there please attend a rally calling for Justice for Alonzo Smith to stand in solidarity with this young man's family and community, Saturday December 12, 3pm at Maurbury Plaza. (https://www.facebook.com/events/96253366712781...

Alonzo's event, which popped up after scheduling the Not-a-Holiday Party, deserves our attention, connecting the dots between police abuse and displacement from our communities.Let us remember that these issues of displacement and police brutality are intimately connected, and that police violence serves to perpetuate the gentrification and displacement which we see in DC on a daily basis.
In addition, please come out and support the residents of Congress Heights next Wednesday, December 16th at 7pm as they stand up and speak out yet again to resist displacement by slumlords and corrupt developers. We will be taking our message directly to the home of Geoff Griffis-- the key development player in the proposed demolition of these residents' homes-- and let him know we won't let them displace Congress Heights residents. We look forward to seeing you at the end of January for the rescheduled event: A "Resolution to Fight Displacement in 2016" gathering, where as promised there will be presentations by radical organizers, tabling, organizing lit, art workshops, movie clips, and breakout groups to capture our imaginations and energy and direct ourselves towards victory over displacement in 2016!
