Wow
I was there late on a Sunday evening. There was a small crowd at this two story leather bar. It was a sultry summer evening and there was a good crowd on the small patio...watching quite a show. The Eagle is very dark and has at least 3 bars all with interesting people and happenings. I'll return to the DC Eagle and think you should visit too...if you dare.
Hot Men, Great Service, and Good Conversation
I Just returned from the infamous DC Eagle. I haven't been to the Eagle over 5 years. I was surprised, given it was a Tuesday night. The bartender, Bill, was not only friendly, provided great service to the crowd, but also brought out camaraderie amongst the group that night. Bill had us laughing, and reliving the better years. After talking with some of the local regulars, I learned that Bill, who is relatively new, has made his mark with both locals and guests from out of town, making them have a feeling of being welcome, valued, and more so appreciated. This is something that has been overlooked and is quite a change from months backs according to one regular. I am looking forward to going back when I am in town.
Friendliest bar in DC.
I interviewed Michael Philips here and the staff were beyond amazing. The atmosphere is friendly and the drinks got the job done. If you're into leather, this is your new home away from home.
This is THE Eagle. Accept no substitute.
Compared to other Eagles (Charlotte's is like the Milan Fashion Show, and Atlanta's is like Bosnia outside), this one needs no introduction. Old school sweat and leather. Cruisy hunks. Cowboys. Shirtless bears. Gropes and grabs. Almost pitch-blackness upstairs. Sports on TV downstairs (year round the best place to watch a game in DC). Put it this way - if those walls could talk. Almost 15+ years and I still think it's hands-down the best leather bar on the east coast.
Kind of a letdown for Leather, but still good
I visited the DC Eagle a couple of years ago, and have to say that I was sort of disappointed. The music was good, the patrons and staff were nice, and the patio was a nice cruisy place... But there were no Leathermen in sight on a Saturday night. The guy I accompanied and myself felt out of place wearing full leather amongst the various different cliques of twinklords and their girlfriends. Maybe I expected too much from my visit to this famous Leatherspace?
