TREVOR PROJECT TRAINING! IMPACT: Queer and Allied Youth Raise Their Voices! You do not want to miss this training! The Trevor Project is a national organization that helps to prevent teen suicide among LGBTQ youth. It is one of the most important trainings of the weekend, because it not only raises awareness on this issue, but it also teaches ways to empower LGBTQ youth and the adult supporters who serve them. There will also be a closing section of the training that incorporates cultural competency concerning the homeless LGBTQ youth epidemic in America. Did you know that 70% of our LGBTQ youth experience suicidal ideation? And almost 40% of homeless youth are LGBTQ. These statistics reflect the intense homophobia and transphobia prevalent in our society; and the epidemics that occur because of them. We must do what ever we can to empower these youth. Or lose them to the very shame and hatred that seeks to destroy our entire community. An entire auditorium has been reserved for this event.
