Nellie's Sports Bar

(457 Ratings)
DC's gay sports bar and more

Two levels of space, big-screen TVs, and a great outdoor patio make this a fantastic place to watch the game or grab food & drinks. It's a bit of a walk from the gay hood, but well worth the trip. Watch from the big windows as boys and girls pull up on cabs by the dozen. Trivia night, drag bingo, brunch buffet, poker tournaments, and summer movies are on the roof.

Best Happy Hour in Town

Get there at 5 pm and be surprised. Fun place and friendly staff. One of the must see bars in DC especially if you like sports or Sportsfans...

Very diverse Crowd a popular Bar:

Far as black guys go, in the mix: you might see them together, with people of other races or even alone. The place seems like a cruise friendly place, if your the Aggressive type. Forget about hearing any of the TV's though-out the place, because of the chatter and music playing. Informed you can request a certain sport to be shown except on Saturdays and Sundays. The bar has theme nights with Tues: 8pm Bingo, free play and win prizes. Sundays $20.00 Drag Brunch Buffet 11am-3pm hosted by Shi-Questa Lee, some nights there are early arrival drink specials. Drivers will find parking to be scarce in this residential community with a commercial strip of retail, restaurants, bars, etc.. Black Boiz says the place was very mixed guys and girls, but did not sense any intimidation.

Poker Night

Saw on the website that Monday's are poker night so my bf and i thought it might be fun. Arrived early and had a cpl of drinks and some dinner. Met some fantastic guys while playing the comp and my bf finished 5th overall. Staff were friendly and had a great atmosphere. Would have loved to have been able to go back again. Def recommend for poker buffs

An Authentic gay sports bar. Who knew?

Unlike Gym (in New York) and other "gay sports bars" around, Nellie's feels like an actual sports bar for fans who just happen to be gay. Clean and modern? No. Cozy, comfortable, full of down to earth folks and crazy sports crap on the walls? YES! Big TVs to watch multiple games, a wall of board games for the gays who don't really love sports, and fun theme nights like Pokerf Ace and Drag Bingo make this a great place for anybody who wants to have a fun, relaxed evening. Oh yeah! Great food and fun merchandise to boot!
