High expectations, Huge disappointment
We went three days in a row (10/10, 10/11, & 10/13)...and it was virtually empty. They have such a huge property with potential but it wasn’t drawing in the crowds. I guess to supplement, they had a rave night in the ground level. But to pay a $10 cover charge for an empty establishment???? Never again. We gave it three chances, including for a midday Sunday cookout and it flopped. The bartenders were nice, but drinks were meh. So we then stuck to soda so that we could head elsewhere to spend our money on alcohol. Would we go again? Highly doubtful. What ever this place reportedly had years or decades ago, is long extinguished.
Stopped by the Eagle To see whats up with the Sunday, BBQ, it takes place indoors and the food did not look to bad, hot dogs, burgers, potato salad, Cole Slaw, cup cakes, fruit salad, for the most part. The music is entertaining if you like those fast beats, low key cruise level. Different types of drink Specials.
really disapointing
At 1am Saturday night, there were more employees than people. There was supposed to be some dancing -- nothing.
There was supposed to be a dark room playground-- NOPE.
Paid 10 dollars cover to enter. Was not worth it. my $10 Dollar drink was weak and very over priced. The Bartender treated me nicely but did not have to much to say and I felt lonely. Droping the Cover would be a good start. I wasted 2 hours just being curteous. Oh my god-there was no parking and the place was kinda empty. I'll be back --this place has hope. The place was clean new but not used enough.
The Best!
While the new location is a bit further out, the actual structure is fantastic. The guys have done and awesome job in creating a "Man Place" with multiple areas, great sound system, fun events, and the BEST Bartenders! Worth the venture there.
A good time
The staff is great, parking was awesome( motorcycles park on the sidewalk up toward the door) and if you bring your helmet in and show the bartender your first drink is free
Leather yummm
love the place its huge and warm. I have been there several times. I like the leather events and alot of hot guys were there for sure. I do not suggest happy hour, like a few guys only ever when I go to happy hour there. I will not see the place with alot of guys as I am not a late night guy and am not around at midnight so I will be missing out I guess. I am a happy hour kinda dude so even though I love leather and the community I do not want to be roaming around down that way at 2 or 3 am. Thanks. If I were a late night guy I am sure it would be a blast so check it out if your late.
Everything you think an Eagle should be
This is a very big bar on 2 levels. Underwear night on Saturdays. It attracts a the leather and levi crowd. Everything you think an Eagle should be, dark and dirty. Sometimes it can be very touchy feely..
Rumor has it that the bar is closing because the area has changed from being a slum to a up can coming area of DC. So who know how long it will be around.
awful
My bf and I went to this bar today even though a few locals from DC had discouraged us. On turning up, we showed our government issued IDs and were turned away. The doorman insisted on federal or state IDs and insisted on passports for foreigners. Who carries passports to a dive like this? Anyway, the place had 10 people at most on a Friday night. Disappointing place! I'd give it a miss if you're from overseas. None of the other clubs and bars we visited were this unreasonable.
Lonely eagle
EN: I was there a friday night but there were a few people. Good music and average prices, but nothing lf action. PT/GZ: Estive la uma 6a a noite embora o local estava cuase vacio. Boa musica e precos racoaveis, embora nada de acao.
Fun, friendly bar
Went on a Sunday night. Everyone was friendly, and the drinks were cheap. My only complaint is Alex! The new bartender who works downstairs. Nice guy, but he is embarrassed to work there and wants to keep it a secret. I want my bartenders to be proud of there jobs.. He needs to work somewhere else.
Should be a coffee shop........
I was at this pit recently, it looked like an old folks home, the flourescent lighting did nothing for them and the staff has the worse attitudes......the biggest bunch of Mary's I have ever seen. They were only missing their knitting that night. There has to be better places than this in DC?? Dont waste your money here unless you want queeny attitude, nothing leather about the place it could'nt hold a candle to the one in NYC now that a REAL man's bar.
First time
This was my first time at the D.C. Eagle. The only negative I found was the parking. Best to take the metro there. I went in about 8 p.m. and it was real slow. Things started to pick up around 8:30 and they opened the upstairs bar. I went up and met some nice guys. ended up sucking two guys at once, and enjoyed the whole experience. I plan to go back when I find some free time.
