Lincoln Memorial

Awe-inspiring monument
Lincoln was probably gay or bisexual. We may never know for sure. But whatever his sexuality, Lincoln is securely identified in history as the father of civil rights. His moment is jaw-dropping in its grandeur, and affects even the thickest of skins of every color.

Pete is right, don' miss

Pete is so right, you see this memorial in movies, on TV but when you see it in person it is so impressive and yes you get emotional. It brings to your mind how incredible of a human being this man was, what he did for our country, his greatness, his foresight, his fortitude. You look out into the pool and beyond and try to envision all those gatherings in Washington that helped change our country and it blows your mind.

Awe-Inspiring

In a city filled with awe-inspiring memorials and monuments, the Lincoln Memorial is the most awe-inspiring to me. It's the combination of the unexpected size of Lincoln's statue along with the simplicity of design. The fight for civil rights and human rights in general began with Abraham Lincoln. If you have time to visit only one memorial (which would be a shame!), by all means make it the Lincoln Memorial.
