Storytelling Workshop for Trans youth

This free workshop is hosted by Micai Newsome who is a member of the Transgender Law Center and GSA Network TRUTH DC Council, community-based workshop aimed at supporting trans youth of color in media preparation and storytelling effectiveness. The goals of this workshop are to shape a network of trans people under the age of 23 who can support each other through media opportunities that center our voices. We will work folks through our TRUTH Media Toolkit that breaks down studies that show effective ways to discuss transgender issues, while remaining authentic to our narratives. We will also have time to practice crafting out stories and practicing 30-second segments with time for feedback. We will end this workshop with an introduction to the work of our TRUTH youth council members, while inviting folks to join us in line campaigns and future projects. TRUTHis a collaboration between Transgender Law Center and GSA Network, is a national trans and gender nonconforming youth leadership and storytelling program that aims to build empathy, understanding, and a movement for youth to share their stories in their own words and in their own way.
