Glitter and be GAY! Concert Exploring LGBT Composers

D.C.'s Different Drummers proudly presents our Spring 2017 Capital Pride Symphonic Band concert: Glitter & Be GAY! Our ensemble will explore the works of numerous LGBT composers, including Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland, Ronald Fallas, Julie Giroux, Jennifer Higdon, Elton John, Cole Porter, Steven Reinke, & Peter Tchaikovsky. With a repertoire spanning the centuries & multiple styles, this will truly be a memorable performance celebrating the LGBT community's contribution to the music world. We are especially proud to announce the participation of Ruby Jade Corado of Casa Ruby, as a narrator for our performance of Aaron Copland's "Lincoln Portrait." This classic work features the reading of excerpts of Abraham Lincoln's great documents, including the Gettysburg Address. D.C.'s Different Drummers is honored to support the important work of Casa Ruby in the DC LGBT community, & to feature Ruby Jade Corado as our guest narrator on March 25th.
