In these times of stress and uncertainty, we need community now more than ever. D.C.’s Different Drummers will proudly offer a free holiday concert this December for the LGBT community in service of our mission of fostering pride, inclusivity, and engagement through music.
The concert will take place on on December 11th, 3:00 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation in D.C.’s Capitol Hill neighborhood (212 E. Capitol Street, NE, Washington, D.C.). Our Capital Pride Symphonic Band will be playing numerous selections, including classic concert arrangements such as ‘Sleigh Ride’ and selections from ‘the Nutcracker Suite,’ and more modern pieces like ‘Minor Alterations’ and John Lennon’s ‘Happy Xmas (War is Over).’ We’ll also proudly be featuring our small ensembles, for a night of numerous musical styles in celebration of the holiday season.
In addition to the concert, D.C.’s Different Drummers will be collecting donations for Food and Friends, a D.C. non-profit organization providing prepared and delivered specialized meals and groceries in conjunction with nutrition counseling for people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-challenging illnesses. More information can be found on their website at www.FoodAndFriends.org. All non-perishable food items (no glass, please) and cash donations are welcomed.
D.C.’s Different Drummers wishes you and yours a happy holiday season, and hopes you will join us for this free concert and food drive.
