GENERAL INFORMATION:
1. Are there plans for GROUP transportation and hotel block? -- Yes, we are hosting two official motorcoaches leaving from Providence on Friday, January 20th with 2 nights in a hotel, returning to RI on Sunday, January 22nd. Both trips are completely sold out. There is also a link to the RallyBus that will leave North Kingstown at 2AM on Saturday, bring you to the march in DC and then return to RI at 3AM on Sunday, and a Skedaddle bus doing the same thing if you'd like to make it just a one day event. You can visit their websites to get tickets on either bus at www.rallybus.net and www.letskedaddle.com. Both RallyBus and Skedaddle are independent companies and are not affiliated with RI Chapter of WMW.
2. Are we working with groups like NAACP? - Yes! We have already connected with many local groups, and the national organizers are doing an amazing job of connecting with as many groups as possible. The RI Chapter has partnered and gained suppor from the Women's Fund of RI, the RI Council of Churches and NOW. We will also have volunteers reaching out to local RI groups as well. If you have contacts with any groups you think we should work with, please message us.
3. Can we change the date? -- Unfortunately, no. We have already submitted a permit for the march and many have already made travel arrangements.
4. Are we working with local press? -- Currently the national admins are handling all press. If you have a reporter reach out to you, please send me a direct message. The RI Chapter public relations will be handled by IMAJ Associates and all press inquiries may be sent to them at www.imajassociates.com.
5. How are we ensuring that this march is safe? -- The national and local groups are working with police and marchers to ensure this protest is PEACEFUL, safe and inclusive for everyone. In Rhode Island we will be hosting 3 workshops around the state offering non-violence training provided by the Center for Study and Practice of Non-Violence and the schedule is posted on this page. This is at no cost.
6. Do we have a mission statement, website, hashtag or other press materials? -- The national website is still being booked, but Rhode Island has it's own page right now at www.riwomensmarch.com. We've are using #whyimarch and #whyimarchri for hashtags on Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat.
7. Can men get involved? -- YES! We are a 100% inclusive march and welcome all genders, races, ages, religions, sexual orientations and ALL people!!!
8. I am so excited, how can I help RIGHT NOW? -- Share this page and spread the word! And remember, this movement is just a few weeks old. We are getting our ducks in a row but we will have updates and volunteer groups organized very soon.
