Postponed: Tour of the Largest Map Collection in the World

Due to overwhelming interest we have to postpone the October 19 event and are looking for future possibilities. We will announce more when we have specifics. We're thrilled to offer an after hours tour of the Library of Congress' Geography and Maps Reading Room. With over 5.2 million maps, 80,000 atlases and over 500 globes, it's the largest map collection in the world! With a special emphasis on National Parks maps, we'll learn about the collection and about the history of mapping from Edward Redmond, Senior Reference Specialist and Curator of the Geography and Map Division of the Library of Congress. We'll be in the Madison Building of the Library of Congress. Enter on Independence Avenue or near the Capitol South Metro station on the Northeast corner at First and C Streets SE. Head down to the basement level, room LM-B01. We'll meet by the huge globe right outside the Geography and Maps Reading Room.
