Salutations, sorceresses and sorcerers! We hope you had a scintillating experience at our September soiree. We danced, we laughed, and we took approximately 25 selfies in the infamous Smith Public Trust mirror. MORE ABOUT HIPS: HIPS promotes the health, rights, and dignity of individuals and communities impacted by sexual exchange and/or drug use due to choice, coercion, or circumstance. HIPS provides compassionate harm reduction services, advocacy, and community engagement that is respectful, non-judgmental, and affirms and honors individual power and agency. We believe that those engaged in sex work, sex trade, and drug use should be able to live healthy, self-determined, and self-sufficient lives free from stigma, violence, criminalization or oppression. We will achieve this through engaging sex workers, drug users and our communities in challenging structural barriers to health, safety, and prosperity. Message from HIPS: Right now we have clients that need to be tested for Hepatitis C and also need access to trans-specific healthcare. Currently we cannot provide these services in our drop-in center because our space is not equipped. We need to renovate our medical exam room so that our clients can get tested for Hep C and receive trans health services in a respectful, safe, and affirming space.
