A taste of Labor Day history:
In 1882, people of all ages faced extremely unsafe working conditions, and basic necessities like fresh air, sanitary facilities, and breaks were scarce. In protest, on Sept. 5, 1882, 10,000 workers took unpaid time off to march from City Hall to Union Square in New York City, which is now remembered as the first Labor Day parade in U.S. history. The idea of "workingmen's holiday," observed on the first Monday in September, caught on in other cities across the country and began a nationwide revolution.
So join us on Labor day weekend to salute the hard-working men and women who put on a pair of blue jeans and worked 12 hour days, seven days a week, along with the rest of the 99%.
