To simulate the experience, we've designed a three-day event for you to taste and explore the unique offerings from each of the distilleries. Each event will feature three 1/2oz pours, a signature cocktail, and a brief history and education on each of the distilleries.
We will also have small plates and a featured dinner menu for you to order off of. We hope that you will be able to join us for all three days, but feel free to hop on and off the tour (buying single admission tickets) when you need to.
Here is the trip's itenerary:
On day 1 (July 7th) we will start the trip off in Louisville, KY and have the classic local Sellbach cocktail. Our first stop with be along the Ohio River at the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience where we will sample the Evan Williams Single Barrel. From there we will head south on 9th street to the historic Stitzel Weller distillery, home to the Bulleit Frontier Whiskey Experience to try Bulleit's new Barrel Strength Bourbon. For the last leg of our trip we'll take a quick 30min drive south to Clermont, KY and swing into the Jim Beam Distillery. Our last drink of the evening will be Jim Beam's Signature Craft Bourbon.
On day 2 (July 21st) we will continue the trip to Bardstown, KY - the heart of Bourbon country - and sip on the Bardstown Sling cocktail. In the center of Bardstown is the Heaven Hill Distillery, where we will have the Elijah Craig Barrel Proof. After a quick stop, and a healthy glass of water, we will travel south on 150 and 605 to Loretto, KY, home of Maker's Mark Distillery. There we will sample their newest expression, Maker's 46 and see what all the fuss about French oak is. We can't stay too long though, as we need to load back up and travel about an hour north-east to Lawrenceburg, KY for the day's final stop at Four Roses Distillery. We will end the second leg of the trip with a taste of their Small Batch bourbon.
On day 3 (August 4th) we will be in horse country and warm up our palates with a mint julep cocktail. Our first stop will be in Versailles, KY (Ver-Sales) and the Wild Turkey Distillery. We will give the Russel's Reserve Single Barrel a try before heading just up the road to Woodford Reserve Distillery. Our second whiskey of the evening will be Woodford's Double Oaked. For the final leg of the entire trip we will head directly east to Lexington, KY, where the Town Branch Distillery is located. For our final whiskey we will switch it up a little and try their amazing Rye.
When all is said and done you will have experienced an amazing trip through Kentucky and had some great cocktails and whiskey, all without leaving the comfort of D.C! We look forward to being your guides along all three legs of this adventure.
