When the doors open at 10PM, MIXTAPE DJs Shea Van Horn and Matt Bailer will serve up their signature mix of eclcetic electro dance music to get you dancing...Soon after that, the lights will dim and DC's own SISTR Mid9ight will haunt and mesmerize you with their live act. Then you'll be transported to the wild world of SSION: music, videos, live performance! After the two live acts, MIXTAPE DJs will come return to keep you dancing til the end of the night. ************************************************************************ SSION (pronounced "shun") is a multifaceted creative project spearheaded by Cody Critcheloe, consisting of music, videos, art, and live performance. It began as a punk band in Kentucky where Critcheloe is from, spent formative years in Kansas City, where it grew into the NYC/LA-based project it is today. Working with a rotating list of collaborators, SSION has released records for over 10 years while directing music videos and creating artwork for other bands and artists. SSION'S 2012 release "Bent" garnered huge amounts of international attention and was accompanied by critically acclaimed music videos for "My Love Grows in The Dark", "Earthquake", "Luvvbazaar", and "High" – all produced and directed by Critcheloe. During a search for a performer to appear in video for his band Deathfix (Dischord Records), Rich Morel witnessed Jason Barnes performing as Pussy Noir at a DC Pizza joint. Morel was struck by Jason's fearless aggression, charismatic stage presence and his male-female sexuality. In addition to his own band Morel, Rich has collaborated with many ground breaking artists (Yoko Ono, New Order and Cyndi Lauper to name a few). This time Morel was looking to write and produce something that was both new yet also referenced the artists that were most important to him; Bowie, Grace Jones, Iggy Pop, Little Richard. Jason and his voice were the perfect fit! The party began in 2008 in an Eritrean restaurant and has traveled around the District to numerous alternative music venues.
