In exactly 100 days, on September 24, 2016, the National Museum of African American History and Culture will open to the public.
It is a day we’ve been working toward for many years, and I cannot dream of a more satisfying moment than when President Barack Obama cuts the ribbon welcoming the world to this amazing tribute to the African American experience.
People across the country and around the world will join in the celebration. But there is one more person I want to be sure is included: YOU!
This is your chance to make sure you are a Charter Member of the National Museum of African American History and Culture before our doors open! To make sure you are an official Charter Member when opening day arrives, and in honor of our 100 days until opening countdown, I hope you’ll be one of 100 individuals to join as a new Charter Member by Tuesday.
If you join by June 21, you’ll make sure your Charter Membership is fully activated in time for Opening Day—so that you can use your 10% discount in our shop throughout all of our Grand Opening events and beyond.
This is truly an historic moment. We’ve been working so hard to make this Museum a reality. Now Opening Day is just 100 days away, but there is still a tremendous amount of work to do.
The building’s exterior is 100 percent complete, but inside we’re still installing priceless artifacts and works of art and finalizing the programming that will accompany the exhibitions.
By joining as a Charter Member today you’ll help make sure the Museum is the very best it can be when it opens to the public in 100 days.
And as a Charter Member, you’ll help guide our Museum’s continued progress beyond Opening Day, so we can add to our growing collection of objects and artifacts, create thought-provoking exhibitions, and provide a lens into an inspiring story that unites us all.
It’s a story and viewpoint many people don’t know … yet. When you become one of 100 people to join as a new Charter Member by June 21, you will help the Museum transcend the boundaries of race and culture that divide us and share a truthful narrative that will stimulate dialogue and foster a spirit of reconciliation and healing.
By joining, you’ll make sure you can feel a part of the festivities on Opening Day—and ensure you enjoy your 10% discount in our Museum shop. But most importantly, you’ll feel good knowing that you are helping to make our long-anticipated National Museum of African American History and Culture a reality and ensuring it continues to share the African American experience with the world for years to come.
