Historic Gay DC Walking Tour

The tour sets off across the street from the Dupont Circle metro, at Q and 20th Streets. In the 1960s, the Dupont Circle area was a center of antiwar activism and the counterculture, an environment in which many of the young gay and lesbian activists of the 1970s learned the tactics of protest. In the 1970s and ’80s, Dupont Circle became the center of Washington, DC, gay life. Join in on this walking tour highlighting bars, homes, and protest spots that have played a significant role in the experiences of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities of Washington, DC. Guided tour hosted by Brock Thompson and members of the Rainbow History Project.
