Parks and Play: Innovative Design in D.C. Presentation

For the past four months, students at Virginia Tech’s Graduate Urban Planning Studio have been studying plans for interactive play areas informing two signature new civic spaces in Washington D.C. - the 11th Street Bridge Park and downtown’s largest park, Franklin Square. Both projects have ambitious goals of incorporating non­traditional intergenerational recreational opportunities to address unmet needs of District residents. At this final presentation, students will share their research about cutting edge play spaces across the U.S. and recommendations for two of the most exciting new parks in the nation’s capital.
