Team DC Night Of Champions

The Annual Team DC Night Of Champions, which supports the Team DC College Scholarship for LGBT Student-Athletes, is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2015. Reception is at 6:00 P.M.; formal dinner and awards commence at 7:30. We will also hold a silent auction in conjunction with the event, the proceeds from which will benefit the scholarship program. Please work with your other team leaders to send a contingent to the Night of Champions. It is an inspiring evening of comradery and great food, and it serves a great cause. In addition to presenting scholarship checks to several openly LGBT athletes, the Night of Champions allows us an opportunity to honor some of our own; those among us who have helped support --and in some instances create-- the LGBT sports community. Each year we present the following three awards, based on nominations for Team DC's constituent clubs: . The MVP Award recognizes individuals that have made a significant contribution to their sport club or tournament over the past year. . The Trailblazer Award recognizes individuals that have worked for years to support and in some cases, establish their teams and tournaments. . The Community Support Award recognizes organizations that have supported the teams and the entire LGBT sporting community. Nominations must be received by September 1, 2015 and should be sent to our Executive Director, Brent Minor, at brent@teamdc.org. The work of ensuring that LGBT sports teams thrive and endure is difficult, and frequently goes unrecognized. Please consider making a nomination.
