Hosted by Rayceen Pendarvis. Pendarvis is a columnist for SWERV magazine, performer, activist, former ANC Commissioner, and lifelong Washingtonian. In 2014, Rayceen appeared on the cover of Metro Weekly, hosted the DC Black Pride festival, moderated a panel at NIH, was a double-nominee (for both Most Committed Activist and Local Hero) in the Washington Blade "Best of Gay DC" awards, and received the Angel Award at the Latex Ball in NYC. This year, Rayceen was profiled by Tagg magazine and the Washington Blade, officiated a wedding, and has been a part of several events, including hosting Black Transcendence: A Black Queer & Trans Art Experience, moderating the panel discussion at the Smithsonian’s “Paris Is Burning” screening, and co-hosting the 25th Annual DC Black Pride Cultural Arts and Wellness Festival with another frequent host, ButtaFlySoul. Upcoming events include hosting Reel Affirmations and Team Rayceen’s “Paris Is Burning: Celebrating 25 Years – The Book…The Film… The Ball” on September 25 and co-hosting (with ButtaFlySoul) SongMaster's 18th Annual BGL Cruise October 25-November 1. Rayceen will also be hosting the DC Queer Theatre Festival on November 21st.
Rayceen is also the host of THE ASK RAYCEEN SHOW, a free, monthly, live entertainment event on first Wednesdays (March-November) at LIV NIGHTCLUB, located at 11th and U Streets NW. Show segments include panel discussions, interviews, live music performances, improv comedy, games, and more. Doors open at 6 p.m. All are welcome and admission is FREE.
