Honoring Leonard Matlovich on Memorial Day

AVER - American Veterans for Equal Rights, Inc. will honor USAF Technical Sergeant Leonard Matlovich with a Taps and Wreath Placing Ceremony this Memorial Day Weekend. 2015 marks the 40th Anniversary that Leonard Matlovich came out in Time Magazine to challenge the ban against LGBT service in the United States military. A Vietnam veteran and recipient of the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart, Leonard Matlovich did more to open the door to LGBT service than any other individual. This Memorial Day American Veterans for Equal Rights will honor SSgt Matlovich with a taps and wreath placing ceremony. We invite veterans and members of the LGBT community to join us in honoring Leonard Matlovich for his heroic service to our country and his enduring dedication to freedom for LGBT Americans.
