Another year, another movie. Who's ready to join in for a wild weekend of creative collaboration!
The DC 48 Hour film festival is a short film contest, in which a number of teams will have 48 hours to make a short film of 4-7 minutes. On Friday at 7, all teams will be separated into groups and each team will be given a genre. Next one prop, and one line of dialogue, and one character/description will be chosen at random for each team to use in their movies. Then, the team has 48 hours to write, film, edit, score, and produce the film and deliver it by 7:30 Sunday night. The films will then be screened at the AFI movie theater in Downtown Silver Spring, the following week.
This year the festival goes from May 1 - May 3. I am definitely doing this and would like to find out if anyone else is interested in being part of the cast and crew. Due to the contest rules, all cast and crew must be volunteers, we must have releases to film in any private locations, we need releases for any music, and we are not allowed to start writing or filming before the contest begins.
Here's what is needed:
- Writing team
- Actors
- Set/Costume designers
- Videographers
- Video Editors
- Sound editors
- Equipment
This is an amazingly fun, creative, and collaborative experience. So if this sounds like something you want to be a part of, and you will be free the weekend of May 2 - 4 and in the DC area. Please reply to this with the following:
- Your availablility throughout that weekend
- Your intended role for the movie (actor, writer, editor)
- Experience (if you have any)
- Equipment (Cameras, sound gear, editing studio, etc..)
