DISCNOTHÉQUE opening night

Reply to the invite by 5pm Oct 3rd to be on the guest list. mobile phone-free party Beginning October 3rd, Sean Morris and Bill Spieler will bring a new social experiment to the nightlife in Washington, DC; introducing DISCNOTHÈQUE, a dance party unlike any other in the city. Discnothèque strives to get people to remove themselves from the constant barrage of electronic connectivity of everyday life for a few hours. Discnothèque is an idea of bringing house music and people together by not allowing people to use their electronic devices (mobile phone, camera, etc.) at the party. Our everyday lives are bombarded by our electronic devices. Most people check their mobile devices 100 – 150 times every day; that equates to checking your phone once every 8 minutes. Will people be able to go without that constant connection for 1 – 2 hours in a day? Will people want to talk to others they haven’t yet met without that connecting device? Morris and Spieler believe the best way to experience Discnothèque is to check your phone at the door. A dedicated phone check will be available to people that want to be free of the constant pinging that mobile devices have on our lives. There is a $10 cover charge for the dance party, but the party-goers who check their phone will receive a $5 refund off the initial cover charge.
