THURSDAY, JULY 24th | AZUL 7PM – LIVE Art Soiree Rooftop Performance Series At Beacon Sky Bar Azul (meaning "hello" in Berber but also refer to the "blue" color of the sea) is a North African band from Algeria and Morocco with just a dash of Puerto Rico for good measure. The music is inspired by different ethnic groups that exist in the region. From the coast of the Mediterranean and the Atlantic Ocean to the towns of the deepest reaches of the Sahara desert there is a wealth of sounds, dances and trances that we bend into our style. Berber (Kablye and Touareg), Gwana, Moorish, and Andalusian music are Azul main influences. Though descending from different regions - Hacene (vocals & guitar) grew up on the shore of the Mediterraenean in Tigzirt, Algeria; Abdel (bass) comes from the coast of Casablanca in Morrocco; Jose (guitar) is originally from Puerto Rico; and Momo (percussion) comes from near the Red Sea region in Sudan - the band members find their inspiration in the sea, it nourishes thier musical creativity. www.azulband.net Sign up and bring your friends to support this local musician and jam out to new music!
