Trans-forming Love is a day of education, dialogue, and prayer to better understand transgender issues from a Catholic perspective.

The goal of the day is to dispel myths and stereotypes about transgender people by gaining sound information from the scientific community and from transgender people themselves. Their experiences will also be explored in the light of faith and spirituality.
The day includes presentations on gender identity development, personal perspectives, legal considerations, and spiritual dimensions. There will be Q & A sessions, small group discussions, and informational handouts.
Speakers will include:
Michael Hendricks, Ph.D. holds his doctorate in clinical psychology from The American University. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Clinical Psychology. He is the current President of the American Psychological Association's Division 44, the Society for the Psychological Study of LGBT Issues. He is a partner at the Washington Psychological Center in DC, and teaches graduate-level courses at The Catholic University of America. Dr. Hendricks has worked with transgender individuals for nearly 15 years.
Hilary Howes is a Catholic transgender woman, who has been married for 36 years. She authored the article, "To Be or Not to Be: A Catholic Transexual Speaks," which describes her converstion to Catholicism and her gender transition. Hilary is involved with several transgender rights organizations and is a member of the Pacific School of Religion - Trans Roundtable. Hilary spoke at the New Ways Ministry national symposium on Catholic LGBT issues in March 2012.
