OutWrite Presents Julie Enszer

The DC Center OutWrite Author Series is proud to present author Julie Enszer, as we celebrate the launch of her new book, 'Homesteading: Essays on Life, Death, Sex, and Liberation." This event takes place Thursday February 7th, at 6:30 PM, at the DC Center for the LGBT Community, 1318 U Street NW. 'Homesteading: Essays on Life, Death, Sex & Liberation' collects essays and prose pieces written between 1992 and 2008. During this period, Enszer worked in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) movement, at Affirmations Lesbian/Gay Community Center in Ferndale, MI and at national LGBT organizations. These essays capture the excitement and exuberance of working on LGBT issues during these years as well as the challenges and heartaches. Enszer’s poetry has been praised as “fierce, politicized, and not afraid to point to the flaws even within her communities” as well as “sexy and political, erotic and fantastical.” With the ear of a poet, Enszer chronicles contemporary LGBT life in Homesteading: Essays on Life, Death, Sex & Liberation with intelligence, wit, and compassion.
