Halo draws a slightly older, professional crowd; 30-something twink-type. You might meet someone interesting, but dress well and bring a business card - it's expected. To do otherwise is to invite scorn. While the place has a pleasant and clean feel, it is also snobish and pretentious. The perfect metaphor for DC itself.
I'm a Montrealer often visiting Washington DC on business trips and never fail to stop by Halo. Very trendy, clean martini bar. Only downside is that it is very difficult to meet people there. Seems everyone is going there in groups of people making it difficult to mix in.
Halo is likely the trendiest bar in the DC area. Attracting a well dressed set, this 2 story facility has strong 2 for 1 drink and speciality drink offerings. It's a short walking distance to other bars and restaurants. Halo typically offers a mixed white & ethnic group with Friday & Saturdays tending more to ethnic groups. Weekend nights get extremely crowded, making this less enjoyable. Remember no smoking policy in DC bars.
Great atmosphere. Nice and friendly people. Been and will be back! Drinks dont empty your pockets! if the hip hop floor doesnt suit you, try the techno floor upstairs!
