Don't Go to Read . . . Go to Look at the CeilingsIf you happen to be in the area of the U. S. Capitol and have a few extra minutes on your hands, this is a great place to visit. This is the largest library in the world, but I'm not recommending that you go to read anything. The Library of Congress actually comprises three buildings--John Adams Building, James Madison Building and Thomas Jefferson Building. I have only been inside the Jefferson Building. The impressive architecture is Italian Renaissance. Inside are beautiful vaulted ceilings, sculptures, paintings and a Great Hall that has a truly memorable stained glass ceiling. This quick visit will take about 30 minutes of your time, and it is well worth it.
